Description of actual services provided:
Encon staff performed assessment of a district heating system with two central cogeneration heating plants (CHP) with production capacity of 1,600 Gcal/hr of installed capacity, 55 MWe, and 1,030,00 Gcal/year heat delivery and a 143 kilometer long primary distribution system supplying 197 substations and 197 kilometers of secondary piping network. Assessment included three alternatives of central system upgrade including a multifuel base, small substation level and building level gas fired boilers, replacement of primary and secondary piping network, upgrade of substations and installation of modern control system and metering. In all alternatives a locally available geothermal source with 12 wells and total capacity of 25 MW was included in the analysis. The study supported a $22 million investment.
