Description of actual services provided:
Encon provided capacity building of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and conducted Express Energy Audits of industrial enterprises under USAID Kazakhstan Climate Change Mitigation Program (KCCMP), Kazakhstan, as a subcontractor to Tetra Tech.
Encon’s experts performed two-day industrial energy audit training for experts of the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) established by the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications with the support of USAID KCCMP implemented by Tetra Tech.
Encon performed Express Energy Audits of the following enterprises in Almaty:
- GalanzBottlers JSC
- Food Industry Plant
- Almaty Electromechanical Plant LLP
The following energy efficiency measures resulted from the Express Energy Audit at GalanzBottlers JSC in Almaty with the estimated payback period of 1.5 years:
- Reducing building heat losses
- Compressors heat recovery
- Waste heat utilization of the hot filling production line
- Introduction of an energy management system ISO 50001
The Express Energy Audit at Food Industry Plant in Almaty identified the following efficiency measures the estimated payback period of 2.4 years:
- Piping fittings insulation
- Heat exchangers insulation
- Fluorescent lamps replacement with LED lamps
The Express Energy Audit at Almaty Electromechanical Plant LLP led to the proposal on the following efficiency measures the estimated payback period of 3.8 years:
- Mercury-vapor lamp lamps replacement with LED lamps
- Heat pump for hot water installation
- Variable speed drive for an overhead crane
